What's Happening in October

Much of the art world descends on London in October as FRIEZE and PAD London take place. Art lovers and beginners in the art world alike can enjoy some of the world’s best galleries, take a way through Regent’s Park to see the fayre and pop into Berkeley Square to enjoy a week long festival dedicated to 20th-century and contemporary Design.

But that’s not all, things can get spooky during Halloween, its half term week and the London Film Festival returns.

BFI London Film Festival
This year’s BFI London Film Festival kicks off Steve McQueen’s World War II drama Blitz at the Royal Festival Hall. Plus, there are 11 days and nights of movies, archive works, short films VR and XR experiences, talks, panels and parties centred around the Royal Festival Hall, BFI IMAX, BFI Southbank and Bargehouse as well as at five London partner cinemas. The Devil Wears Prada
If you loved the film, you’ll love this. This large scale musical adaptation of the fabulous Meryl Street and Anne Hathaway-starring fashion industry screen satire has had the magic touch of an original score by Sir Elton John. London has been chosen as the scene of the show’s relaunch, following a tryout run in Edinburgh, opening on 24th October. With spectacular fashion shows, epic backstabbing and a diva who’ll chill your soul, it is likely to be groundbreaking.

Halloween Trail
Belgravia transforms into a spooky enclave for Halloween with a slew of blood-curdling activities, from spine-chilling biscuit decorating to pumpkin-spice lattes, autumn cupcakes to Instagrammable displays. Indulge in Halloween and autumn-themed cupcakes and cookies at Peggy Porschen on Ebury Street. The cafe’s famously pink facade has been transformed for Halloween with a Bewitched display. Head to Biscuiteers in Eccleston Yards to shop its collection of spooky hand-iced Halloween biscuits. Top picks include the Haunted House biscuit collection, a DIY Haunted House, and DIY Skulls. If you want to post treats to friends and family, opt for one of Biscuiteers' letterbox biscuits, such as Vampire lips, a Scary spider, and a skeleton. Or pop into characterful Belgravia pub The Grenadier, frequently hailed London’s most haunted pub. The historic drinking hole is said to be haunted by a ghost named Cedric, who was beaten to death outside the pub in 1818 after cheating at a game of cards. Pop into this cosy pub this Halloween to see if you can catch a glimpse of this spooky figure.
