What's Happening in August

London is in its prime. It’s August and the sun is shining, and whether you’re taking a drink by a canal, spending a balmy evening in the parks, catching an outdoor screening or catching an air-conditioned exhibition.

Hockney and Piero: A Longer Look
“Everybody does look. It’s just a question of how hard,” says David Hockney. This year The National Gallery marks its 200th year as one of the world’s greatest art galleries and a vital conduit between artists living and dead. This exhibition pairs a stunning renaissance composition by Piero della Francesca with two works by David Hockney that reference it, in an effort to get you to take the time to consider, think about, absorb and really, genuinely look at the art, with only 3 pieces of work on display. Piero’s painting sits in the middle of the wall, flanked by the Hockneys.

National Prosecco Weekend
Yes, National Prosecco Week is a thing! Step outside of Central London to the stately home of Chiswick House, a beautiful setting for a weekend of bubbles. Prosecco DOC’s UK Ambassador Neil Phillips, Italian mixologist Sonia Elia and cook and influencer Angelo Coassin will be leading free masterclasses in the sparkling Italian wine. As well as learning about everything from how to pair prosecco with food to how to incorporate it into cocktails, sip prosecco for the weekend in the glorious sunshine.

August Bank Holiday Weekend
Surrounded by parks, restaurants and the best shops, the bank holiday is a great time to book in a weekend stay with us, get on your walking shoes and explore. Pick up a hamper from Bayley & Sage and head over to Paddington Street Gardens, located just off Moxon Street, perhaps an ice cream from Rococo just after, and an evening aperitif in one of the numerous bars.

BBC Proms
The world's greatest classical music festival is back and in full swing with a host of special concerts. From Mozart and Tchaikovsky to Disco and Doctor Who, there is plenty to explore in this year's programme.
