Afternoon Tea Week at The Mandeville Hotel

Foodies rejoice - the great British Afternoon Tea Week is here! Yes, this means an entire week of celebrating everyone's favourite fourth (and completely necessary) meal of the day. You get to spend an entire week feasting away at afternoon tea all in the name of 'culture', because this is the week that the world celebrates this delicious meal. In honour of afternoon tea week, we'd like to tell you about our current afternoon tea and what is coming up! And where better than in the centre of London at Marylebone's favourite Hotel, The Mandeville Hotel.

Our restaurant Reform Social & Grill's traditional afternoon tea features everything that you would expect of a quintessentially British restaurant such as Reform. They have scones of the lightest, fluffiest texture paired with authentic British cream and jam. They have finger sandwiches that will make your taste buds pop. They have the most delicious cakes this side of Buckingham Palace. And they serve it all in the best of British ways, with china plates, milk first inside the cup and an actual teapot for your pleasure. Oh, and there's always champagne. It's no wonder that people come back time and time again for this unique afternoon tea and that the critics are sent away raving.

Don’t forget Reform is the creator of the Gentleman’s Afternoon Tea. A very manly affair with real ale and chocolate cake, classic Battenberg, sausage rolls and steak sandwiches with snails. You might even have to skip dinner!

And then there's their special offering just for the kids – they need something to keep them entertained whilst you're completely spellbound by the food, of course. Reform has its own very special Mini Afternoon Tea, complete with children's versions of the delicious adult classics, such as a chocolate-chip scone and chocolate milk. They include a delicious gingerbread man and pack it all inside a beautifully presented lunch box – family lunch sorted. You can enjoy these delectable offerings all throughout afternoon tea week and beyond; Reform just loves using the excuse of celebrating the history of this historic dish this week (and a proper education requires hands-on experience, of course).

And what does the future hold for afternoon tea at Reform? Even more afternoon tea treats for your enjoyment! September marks the launch of their hugely anticipated 'Around the World' afternoon tea, an entire menu based around the adventures of Phileas Fogg. This new afternoon tea will take you around the world in eighty mouthfuls. Readers of the classic novel will know that Fogg made his ambitious bet in the Reform Club in London, Reform Social & Grill's namesake and part of the inspiration behind their incredible new tea. This new menu will take you through culinary treats of Britain, Asia, America and the Middle East – all still served with classic afternoon tea antique china wear to keep things traditional. Indulge your senses with Bombay cake from India, babousa from Egypt, katsu chicken from Yokohama, San Fransisco bay crab, a mini New York Sub and of course a selection of British finger sandwiches as well as many other treats. And to drink, there's lashings of tea from around the world as well as Reform's own special 'PotTails' – cocktails in teapots – to help make the experience feel authentic yet boozy at the same time. To top it all off, enjoy a specially printed menu based on the novel and a hot air balloon to garnish – it doesn't get any more cultural than this.

So, why not come down to our acclaimed in-house restaurant, Reform Social & Grill, this afternoon tea week? A reputation never lies and there's no better way to pay tribute to the great British tradition of afternoon tea than indulging in a scone or two. And if you like what you taste, we expect to be seeing you in September for the launch of the new 'Around the World' tea as well...An ideal spot post your Oxford Street and Selfridges shopping to put your feet up and enjoy a Pot-Tail or 2 with some very English finger sandwiches and London's best scones.
